【2014年浙江省丽水市中考】
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
Many people have a fear(害怕) of public speaking. According to a study, it has an influence on 3 in every 4 people. This fact is surprising and worrying, as most jobs require some speaking ability. The following will help you to make a speech better.
Write note cards. Write main ideas on your cards. Don’t write details. Put in some fun facts, questions, and other activities on the cards to share with the class. Don’t look at your note cards for a long time while speaking. If necessary, you’re only going to want to have a quick look at the card for information, not read every last word.
Smile at your class. When it comes time to speak, there’s nothing that draws your class into your speech than a good old-fashioned smile. Be happy, because you’re about to teach your class something they didn’t know before. Studies have shown that smiles are infections. That means once you smile, it’s hard for everyone else not to smile. So if you want your speech to go off well, smile. That’ll make everyone smile and maybe those smiles will make you actually smile.
Make eye contact. Nothing is more boring than listening to a speaker who looks at the floor or at note cards. Relax. Your class is made up of your friends and you talk to them all the time. Talk the same way now. have a look at every person in the classroom at least once. That way, everyone will feel like you’re communicating with them. Also, you’ll look like you know what you’re talking about.
Use hand motions. Move your hands along as you talk, using them to express your key points and keep the class interested. It will also lead your nervous energy into a better place.
According to the passage, ______ of people might fear to speak in public.

A.100 percent B.75 percent
C.50 percent D.25 percent

In Paragraph 3 of the passage “smiles are infection” means ______.

A.smiles can be passed on
B.it’s hard to smile
C.smiles keep people fit
D.people should smile every day

Which picture matches the last paragraph best?

The passage mainly talks about ______.

A.a boy’s speech in class

【2014年福建省莆田市中考】
Build a good home learning environment.
School is not the only place for study. It is important to provide a workplace of their own, so that they can read books or just write a letter to their friends.

Kitchen and dining room are not suitable for regular study, because books and pens get in the way of daily uses of those areas. Find a place where a child can leave his papers and pens without having to clear everything away every night. For a child that likes being alone, give him a comer in his bedroom.
Keep things in order.
Parents should encourage their children to leave them neat and orderly when they aren’t using their workplaces. It is important for the children to have room for themselves. The workplace should be personal, but not another part of the playroom.

Encourage the whole family to help support the environment that children need for success at school. Give them a good example of how to deal with problems, how to manage time and how to get things done in the right way. Study will be more enjoyable when it is supported by the whole family.
从方框中所给的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项,补全短文。其中有一项为多余选项。(10分)

A boy called Mario had many friends, and he was proud of it. Whoever he met, he would like to show off(炫耀) how popular he was at school.
One day, his grandpa said to him, “Mario, I know that you don’t have as many friends as you think. Many of them are not true to you.”

There is a sign at a Korean university asking tourists not to step into the grass to take photos. The sign is not written in Korean or English; it is written in Chinese.
These signs, and signs in other countries warning Chinese tourists about their behavior, have shamed many Chinese who worry about the image of the country.
Over 70 million Chinese tourists made overseas trips last year and spent $102 billion, more than the $84 billion spent by American and German tourists. For many Chinese tourists, it was their first trip abroad and they didn’t know about foreign ways. And some of these tourists took their bad habits from China with them.

Before you travel to a foreign country, it’s important to learn some things about the country and its culture. You are guests in the country and it’s important to respect(尊重) your hosts. As more and more Chinese visit foreign countries, their behavior will certainly change and those shameful signs will, hopefully, disappear.

How do many Chinese feel about the signs?
A. Proud.
B. Interested.
C. Shameful.
